Question:

Audio Won't Play and It Worked Yesterday

(Last edited: Wednesday, October 4, 2017, 2:00 PM)
Answer:
Issue:  So I went onto EV360 after just playing around with it yesterday and today I can't get any of the speedbuilding audio files to play.

Solution: Your security software probably updated and is now blocking EV360 Ultimate.  Have you gone through the information on the Help-Security page?  If not, please try using Help-Security page we created.  The link to this page is found at the top of the EV360 Ultimate LMS: http://tinyurl.com/EV360-SECURITY

Question:

CAT Software Won't Connect to EV360 Ultimate

(Last edited: Saturday, October 7, 2017, 1:11 PM)
Answer:
Problem: My CAT software won't connect my Eclipse programming to EV360 Ultimate software.
Solution: EV360 Ultimate does not connect directly to the writer or CAT software.  Your CAT software must be configured to output your English translation to some other program that is capable of receiving text, such as EV360 Ultimate.  This is true for only the My Games and My Realtime modules.  We have made available a page with step-by-step instructions on configuring your CAT software to output your realtime translation.  The page for setting up your CAT software can be found using the following link: tinyurl.com/EV360-CAT page.  There is a section for each of the most popular CAT programs and a document in each section that can can saved.
Question:

Create Workout and Lesson Plans

(Last edited: Saturday, October 7, 2017, 1:12 PM)
Answer:

Question: Is there a way that we can make our own practice plan? As we adjust when the speed increases and decreases other than the options shown in the drop down menu?

Response: Yes, if you click the "Change Workout Plan" button in My Speedbuilding or the "Change Lesson Plan" button in My Readback, you will see a "Create Plan" button.  After you click this button, the plan screen will clear.  Give your plan a name and start plotting on the graph.  You have to start from left to right and have a red box in each column and they have to be in order up, down, or across.  What I mean by that is that you cannot click the middle row for the first column and then click +20 in the second column.  It has to be in 5 wpm increments.

Question:

Isolate Audio Portion

(Last edited: Saturday, October 7, 2017, 1:13 PM)
Answer:

Question: Is there a way to isolate a certain portion within a certain minute of a dictation that we are speedbuilding on that we are struggling with?

Response: No, our audio control does not have the WAV form to display and select specific sessions of the audio to isolate portions for practice.  Sorry, that was a nifty feature on the Web EV360 audio control.

Question:

Login Won't Work

(Last edited: Wednesday, October 4, 2017, 9:50 AM)
Answer:

Issue: I have registered for EV360 Ultimate through the "blue site" as well as downloaded the program, using the same username and password I registered with on the former. However, the program installed will not let me continue past the log in screen, saying that the username and password do not match or do not exist. I was hoping not to have to change the password since it is a variation of my password for other course-related sites.

Solution: Ultimate's login logic will not recognize the use of special characters, which is accepted by the LMS when you create your account.  So, if you used a #, !, @, or other non letter/digit, Ultimate will not recognize your password.  Log into the EV360 Ultimate Learning Management System (LMS), click your account in the upper right corner and edit your profile. Change your password to one without the special characters.  After you save your profile settings, then you should be able to log into EV360 Ultimate.

Password and Login Issues

Question:

Self-evaluation Worksheet Upload

(Last edited: Wednesday, October 4, 2017, 9:12 AM)
Answer:

Question:  I completed my Self-evaluation, downloaded and saved the worksheet in an editable format to my computer.  After I open the worksheet on my computer in my word processor, complete the worksheet and save it, where do I go to send it back to my teacher?

Solution: If you are doing the worksheet for yourself and don't need to turn it in, then that's it, you have successfully completed the process of self-evaluating your transcription.  Congratulations, we hope it was an invaluable learning experience.  If the worksheet is an assignment that needs to be turned as an assignment in online program, then you would go to your school's Learning Management System (LMS), find the applicable assignment link and go through the process of uploading the saved worksheet to that assignment link.

Question:

Text Does Not Paste Correctly

(Last edited: Wednesday, October 4, 2017, 8:21 AM)
Answer:

Problem: I'm having an issue with pasting in the SE section. The first part of my text is getting cut off. This caused an error when I tried to correct it. My original text was actually there, but I couldn't see it, so I re-wrote it in. Then, once the test was graded, it popped back out.

Solution: This one has an easy fix.  I am not sure what CAT software you are using, but all CAT programs' editors have formatting codes that are part of the text that you are copying to eventually paste into Ultimate.  It's not all the time and not for all CAT programs that this issue occurs.  My recommendation is since this is happening to you, add another step to your process.  Copy the text from your CAT, then open Windows Notepad, paste into Notepad first, which will remove all formatting codes.  Then copy from Notepad and finally paste into Ultimate.  That will give you a clean paste of text with no codes.  We are working on a  special past button for the SEs to do this automatically.  When you start using the My Tests, there is a "Paste Special" button that will give you the option of pasting unformatted text.  We just need to get that same button into the My Evaluations module, which will come in a future update.

A last option is to download and run in the background on your computer a nifty little program called PureText.  This program allows you to press the Windows-V buttons to paste text.  This Windows-V command pastes and removes codes at the same time.  The download link for the small PureText app is: http://www.myev360.com/downloads/PureText.exe  Save it to your Desktop and run it.  It will run in the background and be available to paste using the Windows-V buttons no your keyboard.  (The Windows button is the key that has the Windows logo on it.)  Not sure if you are using a MAC, so if you are, then here is some helpful information.

Many of the keys that you'd see on a PC have equivalent keys on an Apple keyboard:
  • Windows logo: press Command (⌘)
  • Backspace or Delete: press Delete.
  • Enter or ⏎: press Return.
  • Alt (left): press Option.
  • Alt GR (right): press Option + Control.
  • Applications: This key isn't available on Apple keyboards.

Question:

Writer Won't Connect to CaseCatalyst

(Last edited: Wednesday, October 4, 2017, 8:20 AM)
Answer:

Problem: My writer is not being recognized by my computer. There's a yellow caution explanation sign in the device manager window. We tried to update the drivers but still didn't work. I didn't have any problems with this before I followed the steps to configure CaseCat with EV360 Ultimate.

Solution: First, our software does not do anything to the drivers or installation of CaseCAT or writer drivers.  I would first try removing the Stenograph USB drivers, then going to the following link to download Stenograph's latest version.  Here is the link to their download page.  Once you re-install, see if the issue persists and if not, you are good to go. If so, contact their support team.  If they will not assist, then let me know and I will do my best.  My guess it that your Windows did an update and the driver needs to be re-installed.....just my initial thoughts.
